When I left the Army in 2018, I thought I was ready for civilian life—but I wasn’t prepared for how quickly things could unravel. After separating, I faced a series of challenges that made it impossible to keep up. I couldn’t work, and the bills started piling up fast. Within weeks, I was on the brink of losing my apartment and becoming a homeless veteran. It was one of the darkest moments of my life. Then, a social worker stepped in—someone I’ll never forget. She didn’t just listen—she acted. She connected me with the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, and they responded immediately with emergency assistance that kept me in my home. That support changed everything. I’ll always be grateful—not just for the financial help, but for the dignity and hope they helped me hold onto when I needed it most.
